Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is price: ImageResize at Free against Photo Compress's $3.99. ImageResize also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 14 months) and rating (4.5 vs 4.1). Photo Compress's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ads (none vs shown). On device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

ImageResize holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ImageResize has 228 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of ImageResize's written reviews are positive against 56% of Photo Compress's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

ImageResize ships an update every 2 weeks, Photo Compress every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
