# Kickstarter vs Magic Pass

The clearest difference is rating: Kickstarter at 4.8 against Magic Pass's 4.2. Kickstarter also leads on ratings volume (59K vs 6) and chart position (#167 vs unranked). Magic Pass's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Kickstarter holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Kickstarter has 59K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Kickstarter ships an update every 4 weeks, Magic Pass every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
