# Kickstarter vs Study UP

The clearest difference is ads: Study UP at none against Kickstarter's shown. Study UP also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Kickstarter's advantage is ratings volume (59K vs 1) and chart position (#167 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Study UP holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Kickstarter has 59K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Kickstarter ships an update every 4 weeks, Study UP every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
