# Kickstarter vs Vision Source

The clearest difference is ads: Vision Source at none against Kickstarter's shown. Vision Source also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.0). Kickstarter's advantage is ratings volume (59K vs 85) and update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Vision Source holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Kickstarter has 59K ratings behind it against 85, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Kickstarter ships an update every 4 weeks, Vision Source every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
