# Axis StarPlayerHD vs SBS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Axis StarPlayerHD at none against SBS's 15. Axis StarPlayerHD also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.0). SBS's advantage is rating (1.8 vs 1.5) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 weeks). On price and review sentiment there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SBS sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Axis StarPlayerHD asks for nothing beyond the download.

SBS holds the better App Store score, 1.8 against 1.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SBS has 102 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 15% of Axis StarPlayerHD's written reviews are positive against 17% of SBS's.

Axis StarPlayerHD ships an update every 6 weeks, SBS every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
