# PlantNet vs VegDr

The clearest difference is update cadence: PlantNet at every 2 months against VegDr's every 22 months. PlantNet also leads on ratings volume (7K vs 2). VegDr's advantage is iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for PlantNet against 4.5 for VegDr. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PlantNet has 7K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

PlantNet ships an update every 2 months, VegDr every 22 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
