# DSLR Timelapse vs Helicon Remote

The clearest difference is rating: Helicon Remote at 2.4 against DSLR Timelapse's 1.0. Helicon Remote also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 17 months) and ratings volume (38 vs 1). DSLR Timelapse's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (11.1 vs 13.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DSLR Timelapse sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Helicon Remote sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Helicon Remote holds the better App Store score, 2.4 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Helicon Remote has 38 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 14% of DSLR Timelapse's written reviews are positive against 29% of Helicon Remote's.

DSLR Timelapse ships an update every 17 months, Helicon Remote every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on September 21, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
