# Foldr vs Proton Drive

The clearest difference is rating: Foldr at 5.0 against Proton Drive's 4.1. Foldr also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 6) and review sentiment (53% vs 37%). Proton Drive's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (1.3K vs 2). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proton Drive sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Foldr asks for nothing beyond the download.

Foldr holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proton Drive has 1.3K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 53% of Foldr's written reviews are positive against 37% of Proton Drive's.

Foldr ships an update every 3 months, Proton Drive fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 8, 2026 respectively.
