# Secure Notes vs PrivateText

The clearest difference is update cadence: PrivateText at every 6 weeks against Secure Notes's every 8 months. PrivateText also leads on iOS requirement (12.4 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Secure Notes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and PrivateText sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Secure Notes ships an update every 8 months, PrivateText every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and September 13, 2026 respectively.
