# Hail Recon vs Storm Tracker°

The clearest difference is rating: Storm Tracker° at 4.6 against Hail Recon's 3.1. Storm Tracker° also leads on ratings volume (82K vs 94) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 3 months). Hail Recon's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 8) and ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Storm Tracker° sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Hail Recon asks for nothing beyond the download.

Storm Tracker° holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Storm Tracker° has 82K ratings behind it against 94, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of Hail Recon's written reviews are positive against 46% of Storm Tracker°'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hail Recon ships an update every 3 months, Storm Tracker° every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
