# Face Effect HD vs Face Swap

The clearest difference is update cadence: Face Swap at every 5 weeks against Face Effect HD's every 6 months. Face Swap also leads on ratings volume (1.8K vs 297). Face Effect HD's advantage is review sentiment (71% vs 49%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Face Effect HD sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Face Swap sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.3 for Face Effect HD against 4.3 for Face Swap. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Face Swap has 1.8K ratings behind it against 297, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 71% of Face Effect HD's written reviews are positive against 49% of Face Swap's.

Face Effect HD ships an update every 6 months, Face Swap every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
