# Hexagonal Mosaic vs Joyful Color

The clearest difference is rating: Joyful Color at 4.8 against Hexagonal Mosaic's 3.0. Joyful Color also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (9.2K vs 2). Hexagonal Mosaic's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hexagonal Mosaic sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Joyful Color sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Joyful Color holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Joyful Color has 9.2K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Hexagonal Mosaic ships an update every 6 months, Joyful Color every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 20, 2026.
