# RecorderHQ Pro vs ghostWriter Markdown

The clearest difference is price: ghostWriter Markdown at Free against RecorderHQ Pro's $4.99. ghostWriter Markdown also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs every 5 weeks) and review sentiment (100% vs 77%). RecorderHQ Pro's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ratings volume (40 vs 2). On ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

ghostWriter Markdown is free to download; RecorderHQ Pro costs $4.99 up front. ghostWriter Markdown sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. RecorderHQ Pro asks for nothing beyond the download.

RecorderHQ Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RecorderHQ Pro has 40 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 77% of RecorderHQ Pro's written reviews are positive against 100% of ghostWriter Markdown's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

RecorderHQ Pro ships an update every 5 weeks, ghostWriter Markdown every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
