# Comet Book vs Pocket Planets

The clearest difference is ads: Comet Book at none against Pocket Planets's shown. Comet Book also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Pocket Planets's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 months) and review sentiment (67% vs 55%). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Comet Book holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pocket Planets has 22 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 55% of Comet Book's written reviews are positive against 67% of Pocket Planets's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Comet Book ships an update every 6 months, Pocket Planets every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
