# Outline vs vNote

The clearest difference is review sentiment: vNote at 95% against Outline's 44%. vNote also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 26.0). Outline's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (67 vs 14). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Outline sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and vNote sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Outline holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 67 and 14 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Outline's written reviews are positive against 95% of vNote's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Outline ships an update every 2 months, vNote every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
