# Amerigo File Manager vs Phoenix

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Phoenix at none against Amerigo File Manager's 7. Phoenix also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 weeks) and review sentiment (67% vs 57%). Amerigo File Manager's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (73K vs 16K). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Amerigo File Manager sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Phoenix asks for nothing beyond the download.

Amerigo File Manager holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 73K and 16K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Amerigo File Manager's written reviews are positive against 67% of Phoenix's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Amerigo File Manager ships an update every 3 weeks, Phoenix every 3 days. Both last shipped on November 8, 2026.
