# Calendars vs Digital Planner for iPad

The clearest difference is monetization model: Calendars at free with in-app purchases against Digital Planner for iPad's subscription. Calendars also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (122K vs 2.1K). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Calendars sells 18 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Digital Planner for iPad sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Calendars holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Calendars has 122K ratings behind it against 2.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 56% of Calendars's written reviews are positive against 44% of Digital Planner for iPad's.

Calendars ships an update weekly, Digital Planner for iPad every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
