# Step vs Step Counter Maipo

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Step at none against Step Counter Maipo's 1. Step also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Step Counter Maipo's advantage is review sentiment (95% vs 67%) and ratings volume (2K vs 1). On price, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Step Counter Maipo sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Step asks for nothing beyond the download.

Step holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Step Counter Maipo has 2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Step's written reviews are positive against 95% of Step Counter Maipo's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Step ships an update every 4 months, Step Counter Maipo every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
