# Step vs Steps

The clearest difference is update cadence: Steps at weekly against Step's every 4 months. Steps also leads on ratings volume (5.5K vs 1) and review sentiment (80% vs 67%). Step's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (9.3 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Step holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Steps has 5.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Step's written reviews are positive against 80% of Steps's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Step ships an update every 4 months, Steps weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
