# Daylight BASIC vs Sun Times

The clearest difference is rating: Sun Times at 4.5 against Daylight BASIC's 2.0. Sun Times also leads on ratings volume (297 vs 6). Daylight BASIC's advantage is review sentiment (80% vs 40%) and in-app purchases (none vs 3). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sun Times sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Daylight BASIC asks for nothing beyond the download.

Sun Times holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sun Times has 297 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Daylight BASIC's written reviews are positive against 40% of Sun Times's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Daylight BASIC ships an update every 2 months, Sun Times monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
