# Dice. vs Phone Dice Roller

The clearest difference is monetization model: Dice. at free with in-app purchases against Phone Dice Roller's subscription. Dice. also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (1.6K vs 234). Phone Dice Roller's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (weekly vs every 13 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dice. sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Phone Dice Roller sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Dice. holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dice. has 1.6K ratings behind it against 234, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 51% of Dice.'s written reviews are positive against 68% of Phone Dice Roller's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Dice. ships an update every 13 months, Phone Dice Roller weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
