# Ruler® vs Ruler AR

The clearest difference is ads: Ruler® at none against Ruler AR's shown. Ruler® also leads on ratings volume (35K vs 3.5K) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 3 months). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ruler® sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Ruler AR sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.3 for Ruler® against 4.3 for Ruler AR. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ruler® has 35K ratings behind it against 3.5K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 22% of Ruler®'s written reviews are positive against 28% of Ruler AR's.

Ruler® ships an update every 2 months, Ruler AR every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
