# Ruler® vs Ruler 2.0

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Ruler 2.0 at none against Ruler®'s 2. Ruler 2.0 also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). Ruler®'s advantage is rating (4.3 vs 3.9) and ratings volume (35K vs 205). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ruler® sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Ruler 2.0 asks for nothing beyond the download.

Ruler® holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ruler® has 35K ratings behind it against 205, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of Ruler®'s written reviews are positive against 30% of Ruler 2.0's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Ruler® ships an update every 2 months, Ruler 2.0 every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
