# Lexia Core5 Reading vs Splat

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Splat at 100% against Lexia Core5 Reading's 41%. Splat also leads on iOS requirement (9.3 vs 16.0). Lexia Core5 Reading's advantage is rating (3.5 vs 3.0) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 15 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Lexia Core5 Reading holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lexia Core5 Reading has 14K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 41% of Lexia Core5 Reading's written reviews are positive against 100% of Splat's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Lexia Core5 Reading ships an update every 3 weeks, Splat every 15 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
