# HorizonWebRef.com vs Canlan Sports Stats

The clearest difference is ads: HorizonWebRef.com at none against Canlan Sports Stats's shown. HorizonWebRef.com also leads on ratings volume (1.6K vs 4) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Canlan Sports Stats's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (13.4 vs 15.6). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Canlan Sports Stats holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HorizonWebRef.com has 1.6K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 21% of HorizonWebRef.com's written reviews are positive against 20% of Canlan Sports Stats's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HorizonWebRef.com ships an update every 2 weeks, Canlan Sports Stats every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
