# Scenic Map vs Topo Nomad

Scenic Map and Topo Nomad both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Topo Nomad's written reviews are positive against 67% of Scenic Map's. Topo Nomad also leads on ratings volume (156 vs 3) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.1). Scenic Map's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Scenic Map sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Topo Nomad sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Scenic Map against 4.6 for Topo Nomad. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Topo Nomad has 156 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 67% of Scenic Map's written reviews are positive against 100% of Topo Nomad's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
