# Simple Interval Timer vs Interval Timer

The clearest difference is rating: Interval Timer at 4.5 against Simple Interval Timer's 4.0. Interval Timer also leads on ratings volume (534 vs 2). Simple Interval Timer's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Interval Timer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Simple Interval Timer asks for nothing beyond the download.

Interval Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Interval Timer has 534 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Simple Interval Timer's written reviews are positive against 21% of Interval Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Simple Interval Timer ships an update every 5 days, Interval Timer every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
