# Star Command vs 8

The clearest difference is update cadence: Star Command at every 10 days against 8's every 7 months. Star Command also leads on ratings volume (905 vs 30) and chart position (#93 vs unranked). 8's advantage is rating (4.3 vs 4.0) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.6). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Star Command costs $2.99 and 8 $4.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

8 holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Star Command has 905 ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 66% of Star Command's written reviews are positive against 59% of 8's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Star Command ships an update every 10 days, 8 every 7 months. Both last shipped on October 15, 2026.
