# Chess Prime vs 3D Chess Game

The clearest difference is ads: Chess Prime at none against 3D Chess Game's shown. Chess Prime also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 12.0). 3D Chess Game's advantage is ratings volume (3.5K vs 71). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

3D Chess Game holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 3D Chess Game has 3.5K ratings behind it against 71, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 84% of Chess Prime's written reviews are positive against 76% of 3D Chess Game's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Chess Prime ships an update every 2 weeks, 3D Chess Game every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
