# PDF Export vs ScanWritr

The clearest difference is ads: ScanWritr at none against PDF Export's shown. ScanWritr also leads on review sentiment (62% vs 46%). PDF Export's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months) and rating (4.7 vs 4.3). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PDF Export sells 12 one-off in-app purchases and ScanWritr sells 9 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Export holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PDF Export has 1.7K ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 46% of PDF Export's written reviews are positive against 62% of ScanWritr's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PDF Export ships an update fortnightly, ScanWritr every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
