# Memrise vs Practice Portuguese

The clearest difference is rating: Memrise at 4.8 against Practice Portuguese's 4.1. Memrise also leads on ratings volume (218K vs 88) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). Practice Portuguese's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Memrise sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $24.99 per month and Practice Portuguese sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Memrise holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Memrise has 218K ratings behind it against 88, so its average is the more settled of the two. Memrise ships an update fortnightly, Practice Portuguese every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 8, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
