# Memrise vs Talkpal

The clearest difference is ads: Talkpal at none against Memrise's shown. Memrise's advantage is ratings volume (217K vs 3.9K) and review sentiment (68% vs 58%). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Memrise sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Talkpal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Memrise against 4.7 for Talkpal. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Memrise has 217K ratings behind it against 3.9K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 68% of Memrise's written reviews are positive against 58% of Talkpal's.

Memrise ships an update fortnightly, Talkpal every 9 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
