# MyChamplainValley vs Chowan Herald

The clearest difference is rating: MyChamplainValley at 4.6 against Chowan Herald's 4.0. MyChamplainValley also leads on ratings volume (377 vs 1) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 4 months). Chowan Herald's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 80%) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MyChamplainValley holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MyChamplainValley has 377 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of MyChamplainValley's written reviews are positive against 100% of Chowan Herald's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MyChamplainValley ships an update every 6 weeks, Chowan Herald every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
