# BossNote vs minical

The clearest difference is rating: minical at 4.8 against BossNote's 4.0. minical also leads on update cadence (every 10 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (6.1K vs 16). BossNote's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 17.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BossNote sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and minical sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

minical holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: minical has 6.1K ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 68% of BossNote's written reviews are positive against 79% of minical's.

BossNote ships an update every 2 months, minical every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
