# The Scruffs vs Expulsar

The clearest difference is monetization model: Expulsar at free against The Scruffs's free with in-app purchases. The Scruffs's advantage is ratings volume (106 vs 2) and rating (4.3 vs 4.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Scruffs sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Expulsar sells 7 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

The Scruffs holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: The Scruffs has 106 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

The Scruffs ships an update every 2 months, Expulsar every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
