# Proton Pass vs SecureSafe

The clearest difference is rating: Proton Pass at 4.8 against SecureSafe's 1.0. Proton Pass also leads on ratings volume (8.7K vs 1) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). SecureSafe's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 5). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proton Pass sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $35.90 per year. SecureSafe asks for nothing beyond the download.

Proton Pass holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proton Pass has 8.7K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Proton Pass ships an update fortnightly, SecureSafe every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
