# Proton Pass vs Heave

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Heave at none against Proton Pass's 5. Proton Pass's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (8.8K vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proton Pass sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $35.90 per year. Heave asks for nothing beyond the download.

Heave holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proton Pass has 8.8K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
