# Proton Pass vs NowThis

The clearest difference is price: Proton Pass at Free against NowThis's $4.99. Proton Pass also leads on ratings volume (9K vs 2) and review sentiment (68% vs 50%). On rating, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Proton Pass is free to download; NowThis costs $4.99 up front. Proton Pass sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $35.90 per year and NowThis sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

NowThis holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proton Pass has 9K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of Proton Pass's written reviews are positive against 50% of NowThis's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Proton Pass ships an update fortnightly, NowThis every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
