# Proton Pass vs Thought

The clearest difference is update cadence: Thought at every 4 days against Proton Pass's fortnightly. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Proton Pass sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $35.90 per year and Thought sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Proton Pass ships an update fortnightly, Thought every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
