# Drinking Control vs Soberly

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Soberly at none against Drinking Control's 3. Soberly also leads on rating (4.2 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (71 vs 11). Drinking Control's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months) and review sentiment (75% vs 67%). On price, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Drinking Control sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Soberly asks for nothing beyond the download.

Soberly holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Soberly has 71 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Drinking Control's written reviews are positive against 67% of Soberly's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Drinking Control ships an update monthly, Soberly every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
