# Mapway vs MBTA Go

The clearest difference is review sentiment: MBTA Go at 62% against Mapway's 25%. MBTA Go also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 14) and ads (none vs shown). Mapway's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (1.1K vs 152). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mapway sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. MBTA Go asks for nothing beyond the download.

Mapway holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mapway has 1.1K ratings behind it against 152, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Mapway's written reviews are positive against 62% of MBTA Go's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Mapway ships an update monthly, MBTA Go fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
