# Mapway vs Viable

The clearest difference is rating: Mapway at 4.4 against Viable's 1.0. Mapway also leads on ratings volume (1.1K vs 1). Viable's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 14) and ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mapway sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Viable asks for nothing beyond the download.

Mapway holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mapway has 1.1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
