# Spy vs Camera Detector

Spy and Camera Detector both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 45% of Spy's written reviews are positive against 0% of Camera Detector's. Spy also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 18 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spy sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Camera Detector sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Spy against 4.5 for Camera Detector. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spy has 1.1K ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 45% of Spy's written reviews are positive against 0% of Camera Detector's.

Spy ships an update every 4 weeks, Camera Detector every 18 months. Both last shipped on October 27, 2026.
