# MapGenie vs Paltopia

The clearest difference is update cadence: Paltopia at every 3 weeks against MapGenie's every 35 months. Paltopia also leads on ratings volume (1.4K vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MapGenie sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Paltopia sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MapGenie holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Paltopia has 1.4K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

MapGenie ships an update every 35 months, Paltopia every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
