# Futhark vs Grey Elvish

The clearest difference is rating: Futhark at 4.8 against Grey Elvish's 4.2. Futhark also leads on ratings volume (91 vs 5). Grey Elvish's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Futhark sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Grey Elvish asks for nothing beyond the download.

Futhark holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Futhark has 91 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Futhark's written reviews are positive against 100% of Grey Elvish's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Futhark ships an update every 6 weeks, Grey Elvish monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
