# TAB vs ref

The clearest difference is update cadence: ref at weekly against TAB's every 3 weeks. TAB's advantage is monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for TAB against 4.9 for ref. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 6 and 9 respectively.

TAB ships an update every 3 weeks, ref weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
