# Focus+ vs Focal

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Focal at 100% against Focus+'s 67%. Focal also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months). Focus+'s advantage is ratings volume (11 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Focal holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Focus+ has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 67% of Focus+'s written reviews are positive against 100% of Focal's.

Focus+ ships an update every 4 months, Focal every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
