# Ruby vs Pencil Calendar

The clearest difference is rating: Ruby at 5.0 against Pencil Calendar's 4.5. Ruby also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (60% vs 46%). Pencil Calendar's advantage is ratings volume (11K vs 1). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ruby sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.79 per month and Pencil Calendar sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ruby holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pencil Calendar has 11K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 60% of Ruby's written reviews are positive against 46% of Pencil Calendar's.

Ruby ships an update every 10 days, Pencil Calendar fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
