# Taiga vs Gecko

The clearest difference is rating: Taiga at 2.3 against Gecko's 2.0. Gecko's advantage is ratings volume (55 vs 7) and review sentiment (10% vs 0%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Taiga holds the better App Store score, 2.3 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gecko has 55 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of Taiga's written reviews are positive against 10% of Gecko's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Taiga ships an update monthly, Gecko every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
