# VPN vs Bear VPN

The clearest difference is rating: Bear VPN at 4.8 against VPN's 4.2. VPN's advantage is review sentiment (54% vs 40%). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Bear VPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Bear VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 7.3K and 11K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 40% of Bear VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
